Think of the power of mother nature's cycles, particularly the motion of the sun and moon. Wouldn't you like to harness just a little bit of that massive power into your new business venture or project, big or small?
You can.
This Friday at 5:12 am here in the Central U.S., the moon will be new. It will have its dark face towards the earth and essentially be "invisible" on Friday. After that, a sliver of light will show Saturday, and grow each day as it waxes to the full moon. Then it will wane for two weeks and start again.
The moon has amazingly powerful effects on earth and its life forms, including us. With ipods in our ears and glowing screens in our faces, most of us have no clue. Did you know that moon phases affect air currents, thunderstorms, and the amount of rain, as well as water absorption and growth for seeds and plants? The faint light of the moon affects women's fertility cycles via the pineal gland. We all know the moon lifts and lowers entire oceans twice a day, affecting navigation, military activity, construction, and water activities. It lifts the land, too: terrestrial tides affect volcanic activity and have to be accounted for in the operation of particle accelerators. (Who knew.) I could go on.
Gardeners who pay attention or have read the research recommend planting during the waxing or growth weeks, particularly for flowery, showy plants with their main growth above ground. Why? Because they get higher yield -- more output for the effort. On the contrary, root plants like potatoes, where the growth you desire is below the ground, produce the highest yield if planted during the waning moon.
"Sensitive dependence on initial conditions" tells us that a small change at the beginning of a project can snowball into greater and greater effect and influence. It may ultimately be a deal maker or breaker. Why not hitch your wagon to the moon, and get an extra growth boost that may multiply as the project progresses?
What are you waiting for? Get ready to "plant"-- your new ideas, new projects, ventures, and intentions, too. Kick off a new phase at the new moon or during this period of waxing growth.
When the full moon appears, then growth speed peaks. So do calls to 9-1-1. Seeds started while the moon is waxing are established enough to take advantage of the full moon's extra boost. After that, a little restful slowdown while it's waning --- you could analyze what worked, what didn't --- and you're ready for another burst of growth at the next new moon.
Should you fearfully avoid starting new things while the moon is waning? Should you blame your failures on starting in the "wrong" moon phase? Don't be ridiculous. This planning strategy can be a help if you use it, otherwise, things are what they would have been anyway.
Who would be wiser if you happened to set your planning meetings, kicked off new products, explored new relationships, or created new vision boards at or after the new moon? You don't have to tell everyone why you scheduled your meeting for Monday...
Martial arts taught me to get the most effect out of the least effort by moving with the forces of nature, taking advantage of their inherent momentum. Aligning my schedule to coincide with the effects of massive planetary bodies in my vicinity makes a lot of sense to me.
Lunar schedules are available online and in google calendar. Try it out and let me know what you think.
