I'm off to teach "Popcorn Theology" at the UU church this morning! (Yes, me, a Sunday School teacher... I can't resist any chance to discuss how the world works spiritually, and the kids are so awesome!)
We'll share a few scences from Peaceful Warrior, the wonderful movie with Nick Nolte as the spiritual mentor who helps gymnast Dan Millman (played by Scott Mechlowitz) find his true self and inner power, overcoming a motorcycle accident that shattered his leg, to compete again (and win, but that's not the point).
The movie is based on Dan Millman's insightful book The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, which is in turn based on his life. The movie is well acted and an excellent book adaptation: Nick Nolte doesn't have much fluff dialogue at all. They boiled almost everything he says down into the book's most pithy insights about our spiritual journey. Every time I watch, I catch something new. I love this film!!!
Then we'll take a look at Matthew 5, verses 40-42 from another great book of life philosophy, the Bible. I highly recommend Matthew 5-7 for healers. It's the best of the best, deep insights into how the world works, packed into just a couple pages. Worth a review now and again.
What's your favorite book of insights? Please comment and share your resources!
May we all find our own inner (and outer, but same diff) guidance to change the unchangeable, do the undoable, and make possible what once seemed impossible: i.e., to HEAL!
P.S. Here's the great out-of-print version of all three of Millman's Peaceful Warrior books: The Peaceful Warrior Collection. I also love Millman's book that helps you find your life's purpose and understand how your personality is wired by analyzing the numbers in your birthday (it's so much more than that, too): The Life You Were Born To Live: A Guide to Finding Your Life Purpose
